Can't delete files on external drive

Hi folks

I've got a 40GB LaCie HDD I use alongside a Sony headunit to play MP3's in the car

Recently noticed a few albums displaying odd artist name info, like $RL1MKZ5, and yet later displaying it normally. Reasoned that I must have two copies of these albums on the drive, and found later that I do indeed, and the "odd" ones are sitting in a folder called "$RECYCLE.BIN"

I can see this is applications like file shredders or Tweak, but can't find a way to get to them in Windows itself. So I can't delete them!!

Any advice appreciated! (btw running Vista Home and the LaCie is NTFS formatted)

Try right clicking on the drive, choose properties> Tools and run "Check Now"

When you have the drive coupled to windows- open the normal recycle bin and see if the files are there and empty the bin.

"Check Now" wouldn't allow me to do this "while drive was in use", which was a bit confusing

Luckily the Recycle Bin theory worked a treat!!!

Many thanks both!
