Can't delete desktop shortcuts

  3rdday 20:33 22 Jun 03

Running XP Home. Limited accounts get "Access denied" when trying to delete desktop shortcuts. Admin accounts have no such problem. The limited accounts seem to be able to delete other files okay.

Is this normal?

Try going to the control panel, select user accounts, then select your name, change account type, and then make yourself a computer administrator

I don't want to make everyone an admin account every time they want to delete a shortcut, but I suppose I could do some tidying for them now and again. I just wondered if it was normal in XP for limited accounts to be disallowed from deleting a shortcut from their own desktop.

you can just make yourself the administrator - this would give you the power you need whilst limiting the use of others, especially children who have a habit of messing things up!!!
