cant defrag xp

When I try to defrag my c:\ drive i keep getting the message that I should run scan disk or check disk as there is errors on the drive, I have run chkdsk but it does'ny help and I cannot find scan disc so how do I correct the faults and run defrag

chkdks is the XP name for Scandisk (so you won't find Scandisk).

Have you done the full chkdsk?

Sorry a bit more detail might help!

Open My Computer, right click C drive and select Properties. On the Tools tab in Error checking click the Check now button. On the next screen tick both boxes and click the Start button.

Run "Check Disc" and tick "auto repair" you will then be able to run defrag without getting a message
