Can't Connect To Internet With Actiontec Router

I have a broadband connection with tiscali, and I currently connect to the internet using the USB supplied modem. I have an Actiontec Wireless-Ready DSL Gateway (Model # R1524SU-1) which I now want to use. I’ve run the installation disc, set all parameters, as per those on the ISP website. The router status shows that it is connected to the internet and the computer shows I’m connected to the router via the Ethernet cable. Despite this I can’t access the internet. Neither explorer or outlook detects the connection. Any ideas?

Some other details are needed before anything else ...What OS are you using , have you had a look at the properties of the ethernet port , can you get an IP address ( start/run/type in run box ...( cmd for XP command for 98se/me ) / ipconfig/all ) , and as ßeta says , have you tried setting it up from Explorer ( in the Internet Explorer address box at top type in 192.168.0.1 and hit enter , what happens ?
