Can't change back to Normal start-up

Had a nasty virus which I have now got rid of with the help of PC Advisor forum members and the Malware Removal Form.
As part of the process I switched off system restore which I have now switched back on. (I think that as a result of switching it off) startup now runs in selective mode, and whilst I change it to normal start up and restart the computer it comes back on in selective (at least it says it is but I think it is running the start up items - if you know what I mean.)

Any ideas.

Selective startup means that you have disabled some items in msconfig. Just tick the box to not show the message again. There is nothing wrong.
