Can't boot in Safe Mode

  beaky1993 22:50 06 May 07

Any help would be appreciated on this.

I've been having trouble with CHKDSK recently. I was asked to try something that involved using Safe Mode, but none of the Safe Mode options are working. Every time I try to start in safe mode, the computer will hang at .../WINDOWS/drivers/TDI.SYS and will not boot.

Please help, because after running CHKDSK with the /i parameter, it detected some HDD errors, and I can't get rid of them.

Thanks in advance.

Boot to recovery console and delte c:\windows\ drivers\TDI.sys and then exit to reboot.

Do you have a LINKSYS network card?
If so reinstall the drivers for it

Thanks for your reply. My system is OEM, and I don't have an XP disc, so I can't access the recovery console.

Any other suggestions anyone?

then go into device manager and uninstall the driver.

try chkdsk /r to fix your harddrive issues, this should repair the drive and allow safemode to boot.

Hello dunc1234. I forgot to mention in my original post that CHKDSK will not successfully complete with any parameter except /i, so I cannot repair the HDD.

Fruit Bat /\0/\, I done some Googling on the TDI.SYS driver, and from what I've read, the TDI.SYS driver shouldn't be uninstalled/deleted.

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried Command Prompt in staid of Safe Mode? then type CHKDSK and press enter

I tried booting into Safe Mode again, but this time the computer wouldn't hang at TDI.SYS, it would stop at .../WINDOWS/system32/Drivers/Mup.sys instead.

Yes, I've tried running CHKDSK through Command Prompt, but this didn't work. To save me from typing out all my original problems again, I'd like to direct you to a post I made in another forum, click here .
