Canon Pixma ip1000 printing b/w photo

I am trying to print an old b/w photo which I scanned onto my computer. When I try to print it with my Canon Pixma iP1000 it comes out blue! I've tried selecting grayscale and colour and it is the same result. Printing a normal document is properly black so I don't think it can be the ink cartridge. Can anyone suggest a solution to the problem? I'd be really grateful. By the way the photo prints OK on hp psc 1205 (which I used to scan the photo in the first place).

thank for any help.

can you not select print colour in black in the preferences of the printer?
