I bought a canon 650i. After a few months I decided to install a pci card with 3 firewire connection to download videos from the camera tape to disk.
The card seems ok but my pc has not detected the camera.
Has anyone had similar problems or could it just be a faulty wire? Or drive problems?
Everything is ok if I download from sd card with usb.

Bump!

Have you tried connecting any other devices to the firewire?

Is it showing as ok in device manager?

Start, settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager

To get XP to pickup my Canon MVX100i,I had to install the software that came with the camera(Photostich, etc)I presume that the PC found a driver/.inf file during these progs install.(My PC already had the IE1394 ports, not from a card)

Probably a silly question, but did you install the software that came with the card? (Mine came with Pinnacle Studio)
