Canon MP160 printer on 32MB laptop (why 128MB?)

I was hoping to add a Canon MP160 printer to an old laptop, but I notice it requires a computer with 128MB.

Is this true with all printers these days or is it just true for All-in-Ones ? I'm not worried about the scanning side of things, so if that was the only component that didn't work then I would get it.

Is there a way to get the printing part to work with the 32MB laptop ? ... (everything else is as required)

It only recommends this but it will possibly work. 128 is used for spooling the documents to the printer but you can set them up to print directly to printer. but it will take longer to print...

How would I set up to print directly to the printer? Is this an option in the printer settings ?

It will only be used to print simple letters and maybe pages off the internet..
