Canon ip1800- full absorber!

  Diemmess 20:34 03 Oct 08

My son has one of these printers just right for dealing with small cards and used regularly.

It has stopped printing declaring the ink absorber is full!
This error is generated arithmetically isn't it, and not by actually having an overflow sensor?

I'm fairly sure I've seen a method for reviving Epson printers with this snag.
Is there a way of redeeming the printer, or must he follow the sad and un-green route of binning the printer and buying new at a price less than the cost of replacement ink.

(Canon will collect the old, and leave a brand new one for him at about 160% of the cost from some retailers!)

Thank you both, very helpful.

Not being one to be bamboozled he has tried the email support route and had prompt but nonsensical replies.
At best they dont talk about resetting, and only offer replacement at silly prices, while their retail section is flogging equivalents at a really low price for a new, outright purchase.
