Canon IP 4950 Printer not working

  melpear 19:43 28 Sep 14

I am having problems with my two year old Canon IP4950 printer, I switched the printer off in the normal way & when I tried to switch is on later nothing happened & the green power light did not illuminate. I have done the usual checks without success & have checked online & it appears this is quite a common fault. Does anyone have any knowledge of this problem & how to fix it ?

Try a complete reboot, including unplugging everything, including your PC

If you are not getting the power light, you must suspect either the power cable or the printer's own power unit. The former is a standard type of lead so is easy to check, but if it is the latter, it might be costly to repair. For example, I have a local shop that charges £25 for a diagnostic printer check but any repair would be over and above that unless you are confident/competent enough to do it yourself.

Check the mains plug fuse
