Canon i550 printer woes!

Can anyone advise?
My printer, Canon i550, has started printing strange colours in photos. Prints are very 'orange hue'. I did a complete change of all 4 cartridges, but still same.
I suspected the black was at fault, so did a couple of 'cleaning cycles' and did a nozzle check. Everything printed out OK.
I made up a 'test' document - comprised of lines of text in different colours, one line red, one line blue etc etc ending with a line of black.
When I print this the 'black' line of text is a purple-ish colour instead of black, and the other colours are a bit insipid-looking..
If, however, I print a normal black text document it comes out fine!!
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? Thanks.
