is it possible to disable the chip on a ip4500 canon printer, ie print without it

If the chip is not read the printer will decide that the cartridge is missing or faulty and won't print.

I have a Canon Pixma. If I refil a cartridge or put in a clone, it will tell me the cartridge is either out of ink or faulty. It then gives me the option to print anyway and I do.
