canon 400d driver problem

when trying to install software i get the following message

" PTP driver for windows xp not found "

have tried installing from the disc supplied
and have tried downloading drivers direct from canon and get the same message
any body know of a fix

Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) does not require Camera specific drivers for XP, the idea of PTP is to dispense with the need of drivers.

Would suggest you uninstall the cameras software and try again, making sure the camera is not plugged in, reboot and just try plugging the camera in to see if XP picks it up or not, if it does you should then be able to see the camera in My Computer, if not then unplug it and try loading the software again.

Also suggest you try another USB port, and try un-plugging your scanner if you have one, sometimes TWAIN can mess things up a bit.

this link reaffirms cycozes comments regards scanner also webcams can affect it as xp generally can only handle one ptp connection
