Cannot upload images from memory card

Have now tried 3 ways to upload from memory card.1 Scanner/Wizard (in XPHome) starts to work then says "the parameter is incorrect". 2. HP Photo & Imaging Software first says "cannot connect to an image capture device or memory card reader".I ignore this & it starts to upload then says "an error occurred while an image was being saved. Check your image capture device connection". 3.In My Computer opened drive E(MMC/SD)& then tried to open the DCIM file in Adobe Photoshop Elements - got message "could not open E:\DCIM\100HP1168:JPG because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (file may be truncated or incomplete)". I reinstalled the HP software -no change.Memory card works fine in camera & connection to computer seems ok - red light on at end of USB connection. Has anyone any ideas please ? Until very recently did not have this problem & uploaded over 1000 images over time. Thanks.

E:\DCIM\100HP1168:JPG is corrupt delete this picture in camera. Others should then upload OK.

Sorry for long delay, been away. Took Fruit Bat's advice & deleted the image. But still nothing. My camera shows over 30 images on card but when I try to upload them the HP software says there are none !! Any more suggestions please ?
