Cannot reload printer driver.

I've just been asked to sort out a problem because my nephew's printer(Epson Stylus Colour 640) was playing up. It seems that it wouldn't print and Windows(2000Pro) just kept stacking up the jobs. I suggested uninstalling the printer and re-installing. He has the driver CD. This he tried to do but Windows said "cannot load driver. Shut down Windows and try again or reload Windows". Anybody know what's going on? I don't really want to ask him to reload Windows if I can avoid it, because I don't think he'll manage, but he lives 100 miles away.

Printers are a pain to reinstall as driver is within main program. Also if 1 file remains from uninstall then reinstall may fail. Once you uninstall Epsom also type in Epsom in Search and delete files, plus go to Start/settings/Printers and delete icons. Then reboot to clear and reinstall. If this also fails you may have to go into registry.

te free one on the link or another cleanup.
Norton/Ashampoo/Regcleaner etc.,
the important thing is to ensure a clean system
abd follow the intall instructions precisely
Some printers want the driver in first then the printer others like the other way.
