Cannot open or delete Temp folder

  Graham. 12:44 05 Feb 08

When I do a Search, it stalls on ~ Local settings, Temp.

When I try to open that folder the program stops responding.

In Properties, it is over 600MB, 100,000 files (I stopped it counting).

If I try to delete the folder, I get 'Cannot delete ~df180f.tmp'. In Safe mode, I get 'Cannot delete Temp. Another program is using it'.

Any suggestions welcome.

Click on My Computer then on C: then on Windows then
highlight the Temp folder and then Delete.

I get 'Cannot delete Perflib_perfdata_858.dat, it is being used...' on that one.

Hmm, try renaming that file by just adding .old after the dat - just a stab-in-the-dark, but it might work.

Or - have you tried a System Restore back a while?

I renamed it, but it still says it is being used When I try to delete it.

Perhaps the second option then - System Restore.

I expect you have Ccleaner on your PC, may be a good idea to try that also.

Did a Restore yesterday when my desktop icons threw a wobbler.

I'll try CC now.

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
open the temp folder> ctrl+a to highlight and delete
make sure browser is closed
see if that works
