Previously I had my XP laptop and win 98 desktop networked using a crossover cable. Although this system did'nt function flawlessly I was able transfer files quite happily between the two machines. I recently downloaded a virus however to my desktop and decided the ultimate solution was to reformat and reinstall PC. Now however I simply cannot get the two PCs to recognise each other. It would appear that everything is working correctly and I have tried to everything that I can think of including following both XP and win98 troubleshooters. Each ultimatley refers me my system administrator (myself). I would be most grateful if someone could shed some light on my problem.
