cannot get wpa to work

I am having weird problems implementing WPA2. First of all, WEP mode works. When I change to WPA, I run into the following problems:

1. While setting up WPA-AES 64-bit key, even when I use a key generator, I get the message that "PSK value should be of 64 characters". I have tried 64-bit hexadecimal and 63 char ascii, but nothing works.
2. Even though SSID broadcast is on, I have trouble seeing my wireless network

NOt sure that is happening, i would appreciate any help.

Are you saying you can not see your wireless SSID at all?
You are using the same 802.11 protocol on both router and wireless client I guess?
