Not all pc's are F8. What is the make and model of yours?

i have a packard bell imedia 1517 windows xp service pack 2 and when i start up it does say press F8 to enter boot mode

Try F5 to get the Safe Mode menu.

Depending on the motherboard could be shift and F10 together. F8 on boot up gives me a temporary boot up menu for hdd or cd or floppy. Look closely on boot up what's loading and options given.

using F5 i was able to reboot in safe mode and i deleted the files and have been online 22 mins and have not got the mbs popup bill so all is well at the moment. will have to see if it stays that way lets hope. Will mbs try to get in touch with me still saying i owe them money?
