Cannot Download .PDFs using IE6

Can anyone suggest why my screen freezes as soon as I try to download .pdf files using IE6?

I onlu have to click on a link in Google, say, for this to happen.

I'w running W98SE on a 2.66mhz cpu.

Many reasons:

1)Not enough Memory (or not enough free memory)

2)you have blocked Adobe Reader from access the internet

3)Your internet connection is dialup or the server you are accessing is slow

4)The server is experiencing problems

I have a problem when downloading PDFs if I click on the file to download it, BUT... If I Right click and chose 'save target as...' it downloads quickly.
