Cannot Disply Web page

I am running Vista 64bits Virus checker Kaspersky
My Internet Explorer 8 is not working when I go to open a web page I keep receiving
“Internet Explorer cannot display webpage”
Diagnose Connection problem
“Configured proxy sever is not responding

from a friends machine superantispyware the free edition from click here and run it.

On installation I recomend to untick the box where it asks if you want to send diagnostic report as this takes ages.

Try Tools> Internet Options> Advanced tab> Reset.
This will Reset IE to it's default settings (You will lose any Add ons or presets)which of course you can put back.

Try command prompt and type in ipconfig /flushdns then press enter on the should tell you that the DNS cache has been flushed.
See if that makes any difference.

Another thing to try- All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Internet Explorer (No Add Ons). If IE8 then works it must be an add-on. If it doesn't it is probably not a problem with IE but more likely your internet connection.
