Cannot decode and print pdf information.

The problem could be, I suspect, an outdated setup. Vis. Windows 98; Internet Explorer 6; and Acrobat Reader 4.o Any and all advice would be welcomed.

there is now an adode reader 6.0

  AndySD 13:25 26 Mar 04

Use Add/Remove Programs and remove Acrobet Reader 4. Then click here and install Acrobat Reader 6

Ensure, like AndySD says, that you remove the previous version before installing the new one. You can get silly conflicts if you don't do this.

System Requirements for version 6:

Intel® Pentium® processor Microsoft® Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows NT® 4.0 with Service Pack 6, Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2, Windows XP Professional or Home Edition, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

32MB of RAM (64MB recommended) 60MB of available hard-disk space Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5, 6.0, or 6.1

You can substantially speed up the loading of Adobe Reader by turning off the splash screen in preferences, startup tab, but version 5 will load in half the time. Version 6 is better, but if you have a slow PC, then it might be struggling a bit. I find version 6.0 slow to start on a 1Ghz AMD Athlon with 384 Mbytes of RAM. Version 6 has some nice features, but if you just need a basic PDF reader version 5.0 is fine.

click here for Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.05 and earlier.

Forgive me if I have it wrong, but you use the word decode, which suggests to me you can see the file on the screen, but wish to edit, or select bits of it for copying?............ If that is so, you will need full Adobe Acrobat and hope that file isn't covered by its author's security.
