Hi all, Just a quickie, anyone know if a Canon CanoScan N670U and a CanonScan LiDE 20 are one and the same beast?

Cheers, EEps

I have the N670U and I lost my driver disk for a while. I tried the lide driver but it would not work. Luckily my original driver cd was found and I am now able to use the scanner again.

Very good scanner (The N60U)

Hope this is of help.

Thanks for response AudioVic, (can I call you Audio?)

Doesn't quite answer my query because I am just about to shell out my hard earned on one or the other, can't see any difference in the spec but if they are the same, why does noone know?

The 670 is the one reccomended in PCA but I can get the Lide 20 for about a tenner cheaper, that is my dilemma, help appreciated,

Thanx, Epirb.

Looks to be identical apart from the newer LiDE 20 is a USB2.0 connection , the N670U being USB1.1 .

i have looked on the gigabyte website and wired the various cable in correctly except i can't seem to follow the wiring instructions for the hdd light/sw power/rst etc cables. i therefore can't get it to power up. can somebody send me a photo or describe to a moron (ME!) how to connect these little wires to the board so it starts up?
thanks for any help

Lide 20 uses a different type of lamp for scanning, and is only 1.1 USB. J.

Lide20 is a USB1.1 scanner, sorry to insist, but this is correct! J.

I have only gone by Canons own specifications as published on Their UK website (as per my previous post), this then must be an error on Canons behalf.
