Can you use ethernet with Freeserve?

A friend of mine is about to upgrade his laptop and his ISP is Freeserve. At the moment he is not getting very high speeds even though he is on 512K(566 processor though!) Anyway, I was wondering if it's possible to use ethernet rather than USB with Freeserve as he says the cables are hard wired into the modem case. Any ideas anyone? Cheers

I've been running F/S broadband though a Vigor Draytek router with Ethernet connections for nearly a year. I have 3 PCs and a wireless laptop in my house all using the internet, sometimes simultaneously.

However, I don't know if doing away with your USB modem will make the connection any faster.
