Can you run word 97 etc on Windows XP?

I am going to upgrade operating systems from W98 to XP and amongst various things I will want to install will be the usual Word and Excel. I have Word and Excel 97 and would prefer to re-use these.

Is it possible to install older versions of Word and Excel on Xp or will I be forced to buy the XP office versions.

I had several problems operating Publisher '97 with Office XP on Windows '98.

The problems were solved by upgrading Publisher.

Whilst this is not something that will worry you, it is a parallel problem that may prove relevant.
