Hi , kids want to get off 2 games from our pc , as their cds now do not work due to scatches , can we burn them or do games have some protecion written into them and you can't do it?

You wont be able to pull the data off your machine in any meaningful way that will allow you to burn a CD. You may pull all the files off, but you need the installation routines which are normally removed after install anyway.

If youyr CD's have scratches on them that prevent them from working then the chances are that these will also prevent a copy being made regardless of any copy protection - you will simply transfer the bad sectors of the original CD to the new CD unless you are VERY lucky.

The thing to do is to put it down to experience and never allow kids control over original disks (it will always happen) but if allowed then copy the original CD when forst purchased and use the copy everyday.

99% of games have Copy Protection to make it impossible to copy.

If the CDs are scratched goto Dixons and buy a Skip Doctor click here for £35 (cost of a new game) to remove the scratches.

I've used one on DVDs, PS2 games and CDs with 100% sucess.

PS - sorry about the typo's - just defrosted the car and hands are cold!!!
