Can win xp burn dvds

I want to burn a windows media video file to DVD so I can play it in my home DVD player connected to my TV.

I have a phillips jack rabbit 4 DVD r/w.

What software do I need if any? Can XP burn it direct like it can for CDs?

(I am pretty new to burning DVDs... I also just got a Philips DVDR610 DVD Recorder for my TV which works a dream).

Windows XP can only burn to CD's. To burn DVD's you will require extra software like "Nero"

Hi Nick,
no you can't burn dvd's with xp,you need third party software such as Nero or easy cd creator.
You should have some dvd writing software on the disc that came with you're dvd writer,if not you can install a trial version of Nero for 30 day's and use that before it run's out.
See you Eddie.
