Sounds good to me Lozzy, the only thing I would change is the H/Drives, I prefer Maxtor. J.

Very good spec, I'm jealous, makes mine seem steam driven! Only thing I would ensure is that the power supply unit was powerful enough, preferably around 500 to 550 watts.

change the 54x CD-ROM to a DVD16x speed it'll only cost about £20 more and you will notice increased dvd fluency than if you were to use the dvd-rw. the rest of the spec sounds fine though

Thanks for the comments so far..

This PC will not be used for gaming it will be used for writing software and distributing promotional software via DVD. This is going to be a work horse for many purposes including photo imagining and video creation.

My thanks to DJohn for his input re the hard drives and also the professor..

I read somewhere recently that nVidia have the next step on from GeForce4 out... I believe they call it GeForce FX. Apparently it's light years better than the GF4 and thus also the Radeon 9700...

Get rid of the pentium. Why spoil a perfectly good system with a rubbish cpu. ATHLONS RULE!!!

There is a GF4 out called a 'sparkle' with 256mb DDR RAM.

  SpyMan²°°³ 22:46 16 Feb 03

ps...what will you be doing on your computer?

  Forum Editor 22:49 16 Feb 03

this is going to be. It sounds fine to me, with one exception - I share Djohn's preference for Maxtor drives.

Good luck with the machine.
