Can I use faster memory in a 266mhz fsb system

Hi all. I am upgrading a Athlon XP system that runs ddr2100 ram @266 fsb. It is going to be raised to 1gig of memory. I was wondering, that since there is little difference in the price of 2100/2700 and 3200ddr, would I be able to use the faster memory running at 266mhz? I reckon it would be a better option for future proofing, if it works.
I understand 2700ddr etc, will not run at 333mhz in this motherboard and I won't be using different speeds together!

Thank for any help :)

In short yes.

Thanks. I was hoping it was like the old days, when you put PC133 in a mainboard with a 100mhz buss, for the same reasons.
Good to know it is, before I buy some :) 3200ddr then methinks!
