Can I speed up a Direct Cable Connection?

I have managed to set up a DCC between my laptop and my old PC and I am feeling pretty proud of myself! Well if you were me, you would too!

However, I wonder what to make of the speed of transfer. When it connects it tells me that I have a connection of 4 Mbps - is this good - can it be improved?

The reason I ask is that an MP3 of 30 minutes playing takes over 20 minutes to copy over from one machine to another and whilst I am still pretty pleased with it, and I appreciate that it is just a parallel cable I wonder if there are any tweaks I could make?

Thanks in advance,

the answer is no, unlees you are using a serial cable in which case you could use a parallel cable instead, or buy one of these newfangled usb keydrives , copy the file to that ,pull it out then plug it in to the other system and copy the file.
