Can I save my saved games?

I was just wondering if I could copy my PC games files like 'player.dat' so that in the event of something going wrong with my PC when I reinstall the backup I wouldn't have to start the games again as I could carry on where I left off?

So if for example I copied these data files (not the actual game itself) onto CD after I have restored my backup would the game work if I just copied these saved data files back into the relevant folder?
Is this possible?

Yes that will work have tried it with several games inthe past. OK with Tomb Raider, C&C games and several adventure tpye games.

That is good news as I have quite a few games that I have not yet completed and in the event of something going wrong with my PC I can easily get most of my data back as I make a monthly backup using Drive Image 7 but this wouldn't include all my game settings, progress, etc!

That is reassuring in fact I am going to back up my game settings right now!
It shouldn't take long as they are only small files as you probably know!
