Can I run wi-fi and broadband without a router

I want to to connect two computers using wi-fi. Also possilbity of using a work laptop wi-fi as well. I hace broadband running on main computer which is on virtually 24/7. Can I use the main comp as a server and access broadband through it via wi-fi from the others. Therefore not needing a router?

If you have a Macro near you and have or now sombody with a card then you can get a wireless router (binatone) for about £25
