My C/: drive [master] has crashed and is unrecoverable, but the slave is still ok [only lost about 1/3 of my files! ! ! ] I have borrowed a friends pc to ty to install windows on the slave drive F/: so as i can then refit and use as the master C/: in my comp again......

Is this possible? if so how? is it just as simple as putting in the WinXP disc and away you go ? ? ?

I do NOt want to format the slave drive as its 16oGB and still has a lot of stuff on that i need.

Remove old drive

swap jumper from master to slave on second drive

reset BIOS to see the new drive in the master postion (this will now become C:

set Bios to boot from CD as first boot device. save and exit.

Boot with XP Cd in drive
follow the insta;ll prompts but Do not format the partion when it asks.
