Can i open Acers PSD in XP

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 that came pre-installed with Vista basic,i put stuff into the PSD, which i assume stands for personal secure disc.Last week vista updated and since then it wouldn't boot so i tried the disc recovery but no luck.
i also had ubuntu installed,i was able to boot into that and retrieve what i believe to be the file and put it on my XP pc,i now have no way of opening it as windows failed to find a programme that opens that type of file.the file in question is a VMDF file and the file name is eDS_PDS_drive.

Does anyone know how to open this type of file as the stuff on it is irreplacable,BTW i now have XP installed on my laptop.
