I want a webmail address that isn't tied to a particular company ie. @hotmail, or @yahoo. Any idea if someone does it for free. TIA TR

Freenetname will provide its own dial up or broadband customers with a domain name for free

I haven't seen Freenetname in a long time, 961, are they back again? I had one of their free .co.uk domains years ago (before they stopped giving them out). The only downside was (at that time) that they charged a fortune if you wanted to move your domain to another host. I had to let mine lapse for about two years, then buy it when it became available.

As the others say, buy a domain name. I managed to get a domain name as my second name so I've got www. balaam.org.uk so I can use the email address as paul @ balaam.org.uk

Freenetname now part of Brightview and certainly good on service. You can get broadband up to 5gb month with speeds to 2Mb for £17.99 with the first 2 months free

I can get a domain name and then e-mail address off my ISP, PlusNet, for £1 a month. So I'll bite the bullet and pay. Thanks all, TR
