Can I install XP SP1 and XP SP2 on one computer?

  CLONNEN 11:18 06 Nov 04

Is it possible to have XP SP1 on say Drive C and XP SP2 on Drive D on the same hard drive?

Will both versions of XP be able to activate okay?

Or does Microsoft only allow one activated version of XP to a computer?

The reason I want both versions of XP on my system is that I test software and games on my computer. I have realised that some of the software will be affected by Service Pack 2 and I want to make it clear to my buyers what versions of XP will run the software and which won't.

Can anyone help me?

It should work ok and I presume that it will be possible to activate it. I have read here of people who have done it by accident...

When doing the second install, choose the option for advanced install and it should be ok.

Windows XP whether with SP1 or SP2 is only one Operating System. SP2 is a multitude of patches for all the lack of security in the original SP1. I don`t know if you can have XP Pro and XP Home on one computer.

I`ve just seen the other two posts, better ignore mine.

SP2 includes SP1.
