Can I fit a new PCI graphics card to an older moth

I have a Shuttle HOT 597 motherboard with a Cyrix MII 300 processor. I want to upgrade from the puny 4mb Matrox Millenium PCI card to something newer such as a GeForce4. Although the board has an AGP slot, it is AGP 1.0, and will be the wrong voltage for the newer cards. However, can I install a PCI version? I know the performance of a PCI card is less than AGP and the processor will limit the speed too, but I can't afford a new system.

click here for a PCI slot GeForce4 card, or click here for something of a lower spec. Either would be a handy boost on the Matrox.
