I have just downloaded Linux Ubuntu 7.10 and burnt the image onto a cd using my computer that runs with Windows XP service pack 2.Is it possible to run Ubuntu on the same computer without affecting the XP software.

You could partition the hard drive and run Linux on the new partition and then when the pc boots it will ask you what os you want to run.

Do you want to install Linux, or just run as a live CD?

" Is it possible to run Ubuntu on the same computer without affecting the XP software. "

Yes you can.

Though i would recommend running from the live cd till you find your way around Ubuntu.

If you would like a near windows like Linux, try PCLinuxOS 2007.

Some advice here click here

Take note of the thread as there is plenty of advice about how to install Linux if wished.

I currently dual boot with PCLinux on my test computer,it is different but fun also.
