can faulty ram cause windows protection error ?

hi i have just done a memory test usin memtest 86 version 3 and it has brought up 116 errors can that cause my pc 2 get the windows protection error message? and if so will i have 2 go buy new ram, couold the faulty ram cause damage 2 my motherboard as well?

Faulty RAM can definately give you protection errors, but it is most unlikely to have damaged your motherboard. You will certainly have to replace the faulty RAM to fix problem.

i have just bought ram from pcworld 10 mins ago so that shouold solve the problem so thanks 4 the advice do u think when i put my new ram in the motherboard wont damage that 2?

No. As long as it is fitted carefully you should have no problem. Take great care to avoid static discharge, this is the biggest killer of chips.

OK GUYS I HAVE PUT IN MY NEW RAM AND ITS STILL CRASHIN BUT IT NO LONGERS SAYS WINDOWS PROTECTION ERROR I RAN MEMTEST ON THE NEW RAM AND THAT IS FINE , IM NOW GETTIN A BLUE SCREEN WITH THE MESSAGE

A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER
