Camera compact flash data recovery specialists

  MikeOT 15:00 23 Aug 04

I've lost half my photos from a trip to Mongolia - the flash card corrupted.

I've taken it to a local camera shop - they've tried and failed.

Can anyone recommend a really good specialist in the UK?

Many thanks

you can try a diy job click here and if it doesn't work it won't jeopardise any specialists chance of recovery.

I was thinking I would need to send it off to a professional oufit and would welcome any referals, but in the meantime I've bought a card reader so I can try out some of the software you've suggested. Although I'm doubtful, as the files have not just been deleted - the card is corrupted ...

Will keep you posted ...

Well, thanks for the suggestions - I've tried 2 and looked at the others. The problem is that they all seem to recover deleted files, but my problem is I can't access the card as it is corrupted in some way.

(Interestingly enough, when inserted into a reader, windows keeps trying to search and autoplay - weird)

Anyway, I can't read the card, I get asked to insert one in the drive when I try to read it.

I'm sure if I could find some kind of expert I could send it off too ...

Any suggestions out there?

I assume that you are using a card reader to download your memory card? Have you tried to place it back into the camera and downloading via the camera? Is it possible to review the pictures with the camera's lcd?

i've tried camera, and card reader, and no, can't review pics on camera - I get "card error".

i sent the card to "boomerang", and the said they couldn't access it either.

I reckon the only hope is a hight tech approach that link to the card with special hardware and software - if such a thing exists ... ?
