Have a JVC GR-DVP9 camcorder and very pleased with it except I don't seem to be able to download video stored on tape. Connected via USB cable and able to down load still shots from card fine but in video mode the PC does not even see the camera. Any suggestions anybody?

If your camera is digital you need a firewire connection.

Looking on the JVC web site, it says you can capture video using teh USB connection but you must have the relevant software installed. Have you installed all the software that came with the camera?

Normally, as Wes Tam ;-) says, you would want to use a firewire connection to transfer DV as it is faster and higher quality. The manual refers to a DV cable, I assume they mean a firewire cable.

Check the software first, failing that, I'd get a firewire cable.
