Calculating time

  Right Guard 22:08 10 Oct 03

I want to add times (Hrs and Mins) in a column.
Simple example - to add 11.3 and 5.3 i would want to see 17 (Hrs) not 16.6.

I'm sure it can't be too difficult but just can't seem to find the right format.

Hope you can help

Just use e.g.

and ensure that the target cell is formatted as Time.

If the result exceeds 24 hours you will see strange results. If so, format the cell as Custom and enter [h]:mm as the format.

Also, your "starting" cells need to be formatted as "Time".

I'll give that a try, thanks

Or, if your "starting" cells are formatted as numbers in A1 and A2 then

=INT(A1)+INT(A2)+10/6*(A1-INT(A1) +(A2-INT(A2)))

will work.

=INT(A1)+INT(A2)+10/6*(A1-INT(A1) +(A2-INT(A2)))

Wow, and me of a simple mind too. I'll have to sit and figure that one out!!
