cable wireless router

Hi, I am currently running pc from virgin cable 10 meg service using firewire and am lucky enough to get consistant speeds of 9.8 meg.
My wife now bought a laptop and wants to get wireless router.
I want to stay wired on pc. I understand that even 'N' routers get 'up to' 300KB/s speeds, where I often get download speeds 3 times that.
As the laptop is not super spec this is no problem, but will I still get my current performance?
Also any recommendations on routers please.
Many thanks

Wireless N offers up to 300Mbp not K.

If you connect by ethernet as I presume you do now, there will be no degradation in your performance.

I would recommend you get a Netgear, this click here is on eexample.
