Cable boxes and wireless routers

One of my flock has sought my advice on the following problem.
I know nothing about systems connected to cable network so I guess I am going to talk my self into trouble.
This appears to be the problem.
The connection is on NTL Cable.
He has two computers linked via a Belkin wireless Router.
I appears that whilst the primary computer is working fine - as soon as the secondary machine try to link in everything crashes.
So I am going to see him next Monday-
Meanwhile I would like to figure out how the NTL terminal works.
All help /diagrams would be much appreciated

try upgrading the firmware and resetting the router.

If he is trying to get both computers online at the same time I wonder ?
Can that be done- like an extension phone I guess except that you can't dial out two different numbers at the same time.

"trying to get both computers online" - that is one of the roles of a router, is it not?

NTL should not have any effect on networking through a router. Use the Networking Wizard in Control Panel and do just as it says. Before running the Wizard turn on all computers and printers that you want to share

Both computers will work online at the same time if he is Broadband

Doing different things/ Woody?

The quick answer to this is Yes.

I use NTL and have two desktops and three laptops going all at the same time at home without any problems. As woodchip says "Use the Networking Wizard", and all should be fine.
