c:\ is turned into the virtual drive in MS-DOS

I just recently formatted my drive using FDISK and wish to format it again. Although when i go into MS-DOS, it makes my hard drive, c:\, my virtual drive and then i am unable my c:\ with FDISK.

You don't "format" a drive with FDISK, it is for "partitioning" the drive.

Are you actually booting with a Windows 98 "boot floppy"? If so, to format your "C" drive, at the "A:\>" prompt, type:

format c:

and press Enter.
