C Drive error

  Ridleyrider 16:00 01 Sep 06

For some reason, I cannot access anything on my C Drive. I get an error message box as follows

Box heading - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Contents of box -

Runtime error!!!!
Program: C:\Windows\explorer.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way

As far as I know, I have not done anything out of the ordinary. I was downloading Adobe acrobat reader earlier and I aborted part of the download (some photo software add on) but Adobe seems to have installed correctly.

Help please

Try a system file scan, go to Start/Run/type sfc /scannow (Watch the space between sfc and /) hit enter. You will need your XP CD

I tried rawprawns suggestion first and this did not work. I then tried santos7's second fix and that seems to have worked. Thanks guys.

Thanks for letting us know what did, and what didn't work. It's very useful for future threads.
