Hi these are the specs:

CPU Intel Pentium 4 2.60ghz 400mhz fsb

Ram: 2 Gig of ram = 2x 1gb pc2700

Hard drive: Primary Hard Drive 120gb 2nd Hard drive 40gb

Windows xp pro Geniune plus sp2

Graphics Card: Ati Radeon 9200 64mb

17 inch tft monitor

The graphics card does not bother me because the computer will only be used for instant messaging, work and web browsing.

So in total will this computer be fast?

Thanks

Will it be fast?

Well, for what you suggest, more than fast enough.

How much? I'd say a couple of hundred pounds would be a fair price given what you state above.

It all depends upon the price.

CPU Intel Pentium 4 2.60ghz 400mhz fsb - This is quite an old processor

Ram: 2 Gig of ram = 2x 1gb pc2700 - this is a lot of ram and what you expect in a system for over £1000 today.

Hard drive: Primary Hard Drive 120gb 2nd Hard drive 40gb - not a lot of space but for the average user not storing videos lots of games or music it will do.

Windows xp pro Geniune plus sp2 - Be sure to check this.

Graphics Card: Ati Radeon 9200 64mb - Old technology but worthy for what you expect of it.

17 inch tft monitor - Be sure to check for dead and sticky pixels.

Will it be fast well for IM and web use yes. But you dont say what "work" entails.

Hope that helps.

Hi my fiend offered £350 for it. Is that worth it?

thanks

  sean-278262 20:29 27 Aug 06

As for a price I wouldnt pay more than £150 but if the machine is used only for a few hours a week maybe 200.

As above. We shall then see how long he stays a friend

  ben09 20:33 27 Aug 06

ok i will try to comprimise the price with my friend.

thanks for all the help guys.

Tell your mate you could build a slightly better one for less than £350 ;-). I haven't checked whether you could yet but it's likely. Have a look on eBuyer (click here) and see how much it would cost to build a system of equal or slightly better spec. Big bonus with buying the one from your mate you get the monitor and Windows with it.

For me £200 would be tops

i agree with woodchip... for a few pounds more you can get this..click here which will do you fine. plus you get a warrenty and it can be upgraded too.
