Am seriously considering upgrading my set-up and not being particularly interested in opening the case of my existing computer, I want to buy a "base" unit - with just operating software, keyboard and mouse.

Have spent ages on the internet comparing prices, specifications, delivery times etc. and I'm still no wiser who to buy from.

So, with this in mind, is there anyone out there who could kindly advise me where to go?

you could do a lot worse than go here. Very reliable, AND cheap. click here

Or alternatively have a look here click here they do bare bones base units amongst other things.

Look here click here very very good, pick an off the shelf base unit or choose your own spec system, very cheap good quality. Go to the PC Systems page

Thanks folks - I will explore the possibilities later to day.

In the meantime, has anyone any opinions on the above site? "Found" them the other day and they appear very good. I even managed to speak to a sales person who was most helpful.

Its just that I'm not confident in spending this amount of money without someones else's opinion (I'm relatively new to computers!).
