It depends on your motherboard but for mostm it is the Delete button.

The point that was being made, is that the key to press to get into the BIOS is nothing to do with the operating system - it's defined in the BIOS itself - and the Del key is the most common.

"and the button is......?" the one that is the message 'press Del to enter setup', as your PC boots.

ok - well after several unsuccessful attempts i am back.

i have an intel motherboard 850MD.

I'm also not too sure at what point i need to press the button, nor whether i'm supposed to hold it down, or just tap it once.

What I do is repeatedly tap the Delete key as soon as the power comes on.
